TAOEP

Illinois Truants' Alternative & Optional Education Professional Development Project

The goal of this statewide initiative is to address Illinois' need to provide a statewide system of professional development for educators who work with the Truants' Alternative and Optional Education Program (TAOEP).

The TAOEP program is designed to offer modified instruction or other services designed to prevent students from dropping out of school. The project serves dropouts up to the age of 21 and potential dropouts, including truants, un-involved, unmotivated, and disaffected students.

Services

TAOEP services include prevention and/or intervention and optional education programs designed to prevent students from dropping out of school. These include:

  • Counseling,  
  • Credit Recovery, 
  • Tutoring, 
  • Mentoring, 
  • Childcare, 
  • Transportation, 
  • Evening School, and 
  • Alternative School.
