Champions of Education
The Champions of Education celebration honors outstanding educators, support staff, and retirees from districts within the ROE26 region.
Hosted by the Regional Office of Education #26, the event brings together schools, families, and community members to recognize those who make a lasting difference in the lives of students and demonstrate excellence in education.
Our first Champions of Education event will take place on June 4, 2026, at Park Place in Macomb.
Nomination Categories and Guidelines
Each school may submit one nomination for Educator of the Year and one nomination for Support Staff of the Year, for a maximum of two total nominations. A nominee may not be nominated more than once.
Schools may choose their own selection committee. Final award recipients will be selected by the Regional Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools, and the Director of ROE Services upon review of all submitted materials.
Educator of the Year
Recognizes licensed educators and student service professionals who work directly with students or lead instructional programs. Nominees must have a minimum of five years of experience in education.
Eligible roles include, but are not limited to, elementary or early childhood educators, middle school educators, high school educators, school administrators, student support personnel such as counselors, social workers, librarians, nurses, psychologists, and related positions.
Support Staff of the Year
Recognizes individuals whose roles support the daily operations and success of schools and students. These individuals play an essential role in creating safe and effective learning environments.
Eligible roles include, but are not limited to, paraprofessionals and aides, secretarial and clerical staff, cafeteria staff, custodial and maintenance staff, transportation staff including bus drivers, crossing guards, and other support personnel.
