Parenting Interactions with Children Checklist of Observations Linked to Outcomes/ Piccolo (Full Day)
The PICCOLO (Parenting Interactions with Children: Checklist of Observations Linked to Outcomes) is an observation tool used to identify parents’ strongest skills and helps to encourage them to better support their child’s cognitive, social, and language development. It is developed primarily to be used with parents of children: 10-47 months of age and measures 29 developmentally supportive parenting behaviors in 4 domains: affection, responsiveness, encouragement and teaching. This workshop will provide an overview of the PICCOLO Domains, the benefits of Observing Positive Parenting Interactions, and practice using, scoring, & modifying the use with older, younger, children with disabilities, and use with fathers. This tool is completed in 10 minutes and can also be used with the HOVRS, which is an observation tool coaches can use to observe the quality of home visits from direct observation.
