Title IX Training

April 25

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

ROE26

Title IX, a section of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, states that "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." From the time President Nixon signed the Title IX legislation into law until the #MeToo movement within which we are living today, the conversation about sexual harassment and how we prevent occurrences of such in our educational institutions has evolved significantly. This training will take a comprehensive look at the legislation and the intent/spirit of the legislation. Participants will also be exposed to guidance from the Department of Education Office of Civil Rights to gain a more holistic understanding of Title IX and what the legislation requires of us as educators and as public school districts. Additionally, participants will explore tools/resources that can be utilized to help guide a District's response to incidents, training of staff and students, development of resources, and/or implementation of prevention strategies.
