Big Feelings, Little Bodies: Supporting Parents Through Connection

Big Feelings, Little Bodies: Supporting Parents Through Connection

Parenting little ones comes with big joys and big challenges. ROE26 Preschool for All (PFA) families and community members with children ages 3–5 came together at Park Place in Macomb for Big Feelings, Little Bodies: Navigating Big Emotions Together, presented by Kate Mallory, Director of Social-Emotional Learning and Support during one of PFA’s parent information nights.

Participation was at the heart of the evening. Parents reflected on their strengths, discussed challenging behaviors, and explored how their own emotions can influence their children’s responses. Together, participants considered the “why” behind behavior and practical ways to respond with calm, acknowledge feelings, offer choices, and build connections through everyday family activities.

The evening emphasized a message parents deserve to hear: parenting is hard, and seeking support is a strength. Participants’ engagement reflected their desire to better understand their children and navigate difficult moments with greater confidence. By creating a space to learn and connect, PFA helped remind families that they don’t have to figure it all out alone.
