West Prairie CUSD #103
The West Prairie Board of Education is pleased to announce that Paula Markey has been appointed the Interim Superintendent for West Prairie CUSD #103 starting on November 7, 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Markey has been in education for thirty-three years, including twelve years as an elementary principal and two years as the assistant superintendent at West Prairie. She continued her career at West Central CUSD #235 as superintendent from 2015 until she retired in June 2022. Mrs. Markey has remained active since retirement serving as interim principal at Canton #66 and West Prairie North Elementary. Most recently she has been West Prairie’s MTSS Consultant. Please join us in welcoming Paula Markey to this new position. We are excited to have her onboard and look forward to the positive impact she will bring to our district.

The West Prairie Board of Education and Mr. Gradert have agreed to amend Mr.
Gradert’s employment contract to conclude Mr. Gradert’s employment as a District
administrator, effective at the close of business on June 30, 2026. Mr. Gradert will be on
paid administrative leave during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. The Board
gratefully acknowledge Mr. Gradert’s many contributions to West Prairie and wish him
well in his future endeavors.
