MACOMB BECOMES PART OF LINCOLN NAT'L HERITAGE AREA

MACOMB BECOMES PART OF LINCOLN NAT'L HERITAGE AREA

After three years of planning, paperwork and preparation, the Macomb Area Convention & Visitors Bureau/ Unforgettable Forgottonia proudly announces the launch of our new 11 site Looking For Lincoln Self-Guided Tour. The inauguration of the area's latest historic attraction will not only make Macomb the newest Looking for Lincoln Community, but give Macomb and McDonough County official status as part of the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area which is affiliated with the U.S. National Parks Service.

Looking For Lincoln Self-Guided Tour will allow users to experience historically significant sites throughout Macomb and McDonough County directly related and pertaining to Abraham Lincoln and his remarkable, heretofore unacknowledged connection to the community.

Individual markers designate each of the 11 Macomb Looking For Lincoln sites. QR codes direct you to interesting and accurate online information for each notable location, featuring in depth history, photos, maps and entertaining videos of "Abe Lincoln" himself giving "first hand" descriptions of the sites!

This new addition is a key part of the MACVB/Visit Unforgettable Forgottonia's three phase Permanent Attraction Initiative: ongoing community mural projects, establishing and presenting Macomb's neglected Abraham Lincoln story, and creating an attraction around Macomb native Elizabeth "Lizzie" Magie's renowned creation: the board game Monopoly.
