Summer Meals Program returns to Carthage

Summer Meals Program returns to Carthage

Carthage Elementary School District #317 will sponsor a Summer Meals Program from June 7, 2021 through August 6, 2021.  This program is available to all children ages 18 and under.  Free sack lunches will be offered Monday-Friday from 12 PM-1 PM.  Curbside pickup is at Carthage Community Center (former Senior Center), 301 E. Main Street, Carthage.

The program is part of the Summer Food Service Program, which is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered through the Illinois State Board of Education.  The Summer Food Service Program is available to all eligible children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.

The office of Carthage Community Development, with the assistance of VISTA Volunteers, will facilitate the meals program.  Fun Friday activities will be planned each week and sent home with the children’s lunches.  There is no need to register.  Just show up at the Community Center between 12 PM and 1 PM to collect a sack lunch.

For questions regarding the Summer Meals Program, please contact Amy Graham, director of Carthage Community Development, at 217-357-3800 or [email protected].
