New Frontiers - Identification, Placement, and Support for ELL Students

May 30

All-Day Event

Galesburg Community Foundation

This session will introduce participants to the dynamic and developing influx of students who are non-native speakers of English coming into rural community schools. We will discuss why they are here, how we identify them, how they are placed in classes, what supports we can offer, and much more. Participants should bring a charged device and either a personal or employer-issued Google account. Three main questions will be presented and discussed at length: How do we accurately identify their language proficiency and needs? What are the most effective ways of enrolling them in our educational programs? What can we do to help give them access to the curriculum?
