TITLE:  Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage & Cyber Investigations

EVENT #:  901-24

DATE(S):  March 4 & 5, 2024 (must attend both days)

TIME(S):  8:00 am to 4:00 pm (each day)

LOCATION(S):  Plainfield Fire Protection District, 23748 W. 135th St., Plainfield, IL 60544

PRESENTER(S):  Detective Richard Wistocki (Ret.)

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  K-12 and Higher Ed. Educators, Law Enforcement, and Other Stakeholders

  • The phenomenon of the school shooter and mass shooters in our schools and public areas are at an all-time high. Law enforcement and educators need to obtain the proper information, gather crucial evidence, and set due process paperwork in motion in a timely manner when responding to threats of school violence/mass shooters online - especially when there is "leakage" and the posting party is targeting students and school personnel.

  • This class will train educators and law enforcement on the protocols set forth in dealing with this type of school violence. The goal of this training is to empower attendees to gather digital evidence effectively so they may find out who the perpetrator is and take action immediately after a comment or post is made. Educators will also gain a better understanding of law enforcement's role and responsibilities once a threat has been discovered.
