Area Students Invited to Take Part in Accounting Challenge

MACOMB, IL - - Area high school students are invited to demonstrate their financial accounting knowledge at Western Illinois University's annual Accounting Challenge Friday, April 20.

The event, which is sponsored by WIU's accountancy department, Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and the Illinois CPA Society, will be held in WIU's Stipes Hall. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m., with an award ceremony concluding the event at 12:30 p.m. The competition is open to all area high school students and not only provides them with a chance to showcase their accounting skills through a written competition, but it also provides them with information about Western's accountancy department and College of Business and Technology. There is no cost to participate.

Participants will be placed in one of two divisions based on school enrollment. Prizes will be awarded in each division, and scholarships will be given for first, second and third place based on highest individual scores.
