We learn how to define trauma and understand the importance of addressing it within everyday systems and communities. Together, we —

  • Delve into the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Study and the impact of trauma on health and social outcomes
  • Expand upon the original ACEs framework to include collective experiences of trauma inflicted by historical and contemporary systemic injustices
  • Understand the biology of trauma and resilience, both of which are informed by our environments and the systems that influence them
  • Integrate a culture of resilience and trauma-informed practice into your work as an organization and with the communities you serve

Bio:
Hannah Shevrin joined Health & Medicine in May 2023 where she manages the organization's three-part training series on a public health perspective of trauma and its causes, effects, and antidotes. As a facilitator for over ten years, Hannah is energized by creating and leading trainings that fuel people's visions for a better world. Hannah most recently worked as the Chicago Program Manager for Repair the World, where she developed over a hundred political education programs to organize Jewish community members into local justice work amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that, she was the Intake and Workshop Coordinator for Beyond Legal Aid, where she spearheaded the integration of trauma-informed practices into their legal services with grassroots partners. Hannah graduated from Tufts University with a BA in Sociology.
