ROE26 Offers Adult Ed Classes in Hancock County

Adults in Hancock County have new opportunities to further their education for free, thanks to a new
partnership led by the local Regional Office of Education.

ROE26 is partnering with neighboring Regional Office of Education #33 to provide adult education classes for the
2017-2018 school year. The prep classes include GED and High School Equivalency for adults age 17 and above.
Three class sessions are being offered this school year at ROYALS Academy on Carthage Square in Carthage on
Tuesday-Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.:

  • 1st Session: Nov. 7th through Dec. 21st (7 weeks)
  • 2nd Session: Jan. 16th through March 8th (8 weeks)
  • 3rd Session: March 13th through May 10th (9 weeks)

Registration and orientation is set for the first three days of each class session beginning at 5 p.m. The seven-week
and eight-week sessions are designed for students to have quality time for improvements within their course and
focused attention in their content areas. The courses are offered for free, but students are advised they will take
time and dedication to complete. Call 309-715-7314 for more details.

Regional Superintendent John Meixner said the partnership with the neighboring ROE is provided through an Adult
Education grant from the Illinois Community College Board and represents yet another way ROE26 is bringing
important educational opportunities to the area at a real value.

"As our economy rebounds and grows more competitive, our workforce has to be ready to meet the challenges,"
Meixner said. "We encourage anyone who didn't complete high school to come to our sessions and learn about
how a degree can help them move forward, on the job and in their lives. We're proud to partner with the team in
ROE #33 to offer this opportunity for free and hope this will help lift up people in Carthage and our neighboring
communities."
