Next Generation Science Standards Phase 1: Overview

Science Foundational Services are designed to increase knowledge of the new Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Phase 1 will contain components to prepare participants to experience a three-dimensional learning science lesson; recognize the instructional shifts required by the NGSS; discover the three dimensions of the NGSS; read and understand the standards pages of the NGSS; explain how these new Illinois Learning Standards for Science, and their incorporation of 3-dimensional learning, will transform science education for kids by engaging them in meaningful, relevant, and coherent investigations.
