Opening Doors - Statewide
McKinney Program -
- Opening
Doors is an Illinois State Board of Education grant-funded
project under the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Children
and Youth Program. The goal of this statewide initiative
is to disseminate information to Illinois schools and
shelters as to the educational rights and needs of
homeless children and youth.
Optional Education Programs -
Preschool for ALL -
- Preschool builds on
Illinois' Early Childhood Education foundation of child
care, State Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start. Preschool
for All enhances the 20-year-old State Pre-Kindergarten
program to reach more children and improve quality and
accountability in the schools, community organizations
and private providers.

Regional Safe Schools Program

- Hancock County Learning Center and the
McDonough County Learning Centers opened their doors to
provide classes for students who are chronically
disruptive in their home districts. The centers seek to
remove the severe behavior problems from the regular
classrooms and to provide an alternative form of
instruction during the expulsion period for those students
who will benefit from it.

Here to help Hancock and McDonough Counties deal with
crisis as it arises and prepare for crisis situations
before they emerge.

The SCAT team is a team of crisis interveners, who are
available 24 hours a day, to help schools and the
communities in Hancock and McDonough County respond to
tragedy.
Truants' Alternative and Optional Education Program (T.A.O.E.P.) -
- The Illinois Truants' Alternative and
Optional Education Training and Technical Assistance
Project is an Illinois State Board of Education grant
funded project.

PCCS is a federally funded education program
built upon three critical components intended to develop
seamless pathways that prepare students for high-wage,
high-demand careers:
- Linkages between academic and career and technical
educators;
- Articulation between secondary and postsecondary
education;
- Collaboration between educators and the business
community.
